I am gay and trans non-binary and I am an entomologist.//

I am a PhD student at the American Museum of Natural History and Columbia University. I have a passion for all 6-legged creatures, but my bias is towards apoid wasps and bees. My research focuses on systematics, museum ethics, and biodiversity. Growing up mostly in North Carolina, I wasn’t exposed to many queer people and didn’t come out until my early 20s. However, being surrounded by a supportive community and having the opportunity to live and work in an accepting city, has not only allowed me to live as my full self, but also provided the safety needed to succeed as a scientist!
