I am gay and I am a Professor and Dean.//
I am a gay, Asian-American scientist who uses genomics to advance regenerative biology and wildlife conservation.
I’m a Professor at Arizona State University, and I have also been in administration for eight years, currently serving as Dean of Natural Sciences in our college. I have been together with my partner Stephen Pratt, who is a professor at our university, since 1987 and married since 2013. I have been out since college, and there have not been many visibly LGBTQ scientists during my training. I participate in a mentorship program for LGBTQIA students, serve as a faculty advisor for our graduate GRADient student organization, and work to support building more communities within scientific and academic organizations.
