Jake Morton
He/Him
I am bisexual and I am a science communicator.//
I work with schools and community groups at Life Science Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. I have an academic background in geology and palaeontology, but now work in a role that allows me to share my love of science more broadly with a wide range of audiences.
One day I might be running a lab-based workshop about climate change for a group of teenagers, while the next I could be taking a class of 10-year-olds on a trip to the Moon in our inflatable planetarium. As well as writing and delivering hands-on workshops, I also co-ordinate some of Life's funded programmes, which allow us to reach schools in disadvantaged parts of our region.
I've previously worked in outdoor education with the North Pennines National Landscape and UNESCO Global Geopark, and volunteer with a Yorkshire-based STEM outreach group called Fossils in t'Hills.
