I am gay and I am a clinician-scientist.//
I am a doctor and researcher building my own research programme, working out why cancer immunotherapies work well in some parts of the body and not so well in others. Working across Cambridge, Edinburgh and Glasgow early in my career, I didn't see many openly gay senior clinicians, and even fewer openly gay clinical academics. I can't fix that on my own, but I can at least be openly, unremarkably present for those thinking about this career route now.
