I am gay and I am a neuroscientist.//
Hello 🙂 I am currently a Neuroscience Ph.D. student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Before pursuing a Ph.D., I completed my BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences at UC Irvine.
My research interests span widely. I am interested in understanding how the epigenome integrates external experiences to impact learning and memory throughout the lifespan. Recently, my research has shifted to unraveling the circuit mechanisms underlying affective valence.
As an immigrant (from Vietnam) and a first-gen college student, I comprehend the struggle of navigating the rough waters of post-secondary education, especially in STEM. Using my experience, I hope to inspire students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in science.
