Jennifer Middleton

She/Her

I am queer and I am an isotope geochemist who studies climate change.//

I am an Assistant Research Professor at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University. I use noble gas analyses and complementary geochemical tracers in the geologic record (e.g., rock and seafloor sediment samples) to evaluate interactions between the oceans, atmsophere, ice sheets, and solid Earth over a range of past climatic conditions. I also work to increase Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the geosciences (and in STEM in general).

I grew up in Atlanta and now live in New York City with my girlfriend (who’s also a queer scientist!) and our growing collection of indoor plants. When I’m not working, I enjoy frolicking outside or binge-watching the queer tv shows I wish had existed when I was a kid.
