I am queer non-binary and I am an interdisciplinary scientist.//
Originally from Barbados, I moved to Canada for my Ph.D. I completed my Ph.D. at McMaster University which was focused on the epidemiological and genetics profile of women of African ancestry diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. During my Ph.D., I co-produced and performed in the world’s first ever science-themed drag show called “Science is a Drag” which challenges cis-heteronormative stereotypes in science. This event continues to be an inspiration to myself, the performers and everyone in attendance that we can fully show up as our queer selves and excellent in our scientific careers.
