I am a lesbian and I am a primatologist. //
I’m a primatologist studying wild black-and-white colobus monkeys in Uganda. Specifically, I’m investigating the intersection of infant care, maternal stress, and infant development in this species. Prior to this, I’ve had the pleasure of studying wild birds and mammals in a variety of beautiful locations, including the Yukon’s boreal forests, the savannahs of South Africa, and the wetlands of Minnesota. In addition to understanding the natural world, I’m passionate about equity and diversity in academia. I am currently the University Governance commissioner for the Graduate Students’ Union at the University of Toronto, where I’m working to promote the visibility of queer students on campus and address the prevalence of sexual violence within University spaces.
