Richard Smart

He/Him

I am gay and queer and I am an Environmental Educator.//

Currently I am a Manager in the Community Science Program at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. In the past I have worked at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas, City of Dallas, Dallas Zoo, and the Elm Fork Education Center. I have been an adjunct professor of Environmental Science at Whittier College and Collin County College. I received my B.S. in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences at Texas A&M University, and my M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of North Texas. How can we make STEM fields more inclusive to queer people, especially for queer people of color and for queer women? I have worked with some LGBTQIA people in my profession, but not as many as I think I should.
