I am bi and I am a PhD student.//
I’m a first generation Russian/Canadian/American and I grew up in Toronto, Canada before moving to upstate New York. I got my B.S. from the University of Toronto and studied Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Now I doing my PhD at UC Berkeley where I am studying the spillover of viruses between managed honeybees and native wild bees in California. I work in the field sampling bees from almond orchards and cattle ranches, to alpine meadows in the Sierras, to understand bee disease dynamics through time. I am passionate about insect conservation and science communication. In addition to science I really love art, specifically pen and ink illustrations and watercolor.
