I am gay and I am a biochemist. //

I was interested in science from a very young age, and originally wanted to become an astronomer. Through many twists and turns I ended up studying molecular engineering under Roger Tsien at UCSD and eventually dedicated my career to creating better fluorescent and bioluminescent probes for imaging and control of cells.
