I am queer and I am a microbial physiologist.//

I fell in love with microbiology as a kid, when I took a peek at some pond water through a cheap Sears microscope, whose lenses were so poor they surrounded everything with rainbows. I guess that made it even more magical in a way. Nowadays, I bring as many students as possible from every walk of life into my research at the University of South Florida to show them the wonder that is there. When I am away from my chemostats, I enjoy riding with my wife on her Harley, and playing tunes with a Celtic inspired folk rock band.
