Elizabeth Fuhrman

She/Her

I am queer and pansexual and I am an ecologist and conservation biologist.//

I am journeying both through figuring out my sexuality and furthering my science education. I’m currently working to earn my master’s degree at SUNY ESF in New York, and have been very lucky to connect with other students who identify as LGBTQ+ here, but previously working 3 years’ worth of seasonal positions felt more isolating and coming out is always a little stressful. I want queerness in science and biology to be recognized as normal and okay, and to that end I am creating a podcast with two queer friends from school called Queerly Natural where we’ll be exploring sexuality and gender displayed in animals, plants and fungi. I would love to connect with other queer scientists and hear more of your stories! We’re hoping to interview some people about their experiences or areas of focus as well, and I would love to discuss that if you’re interested. Contact me at elfuhrman@gmail.com!
