He/They

I am queer and I am an earth system / climate scientist.//

I study how human activity alters atmospheric composition via changes to natural emission sources, e.g. from wildfires, deserts, and both marine and terrestrial biospheres. Subsequent discussions on the impacts for climate, human health and ocean biogeochemistry is multidisciplinary and I find it exciting being able to talk to a broad set of people while learning about how the Earth system works. I would love to see the rich diversity in Earth system science mirrored by those studying and teaching it. I was not fortunate enough to have queer scientist role models and visibility is important for fostering an inclusive culture in the Academy. I hope together that we can make the future of STEM a beautiful spectrum for everyone.
