I am gay and I am a wildlife ecologist.//
I am currently pursuing a masters degree in natural resources and environmental management, but as my friends will tell you, I’m better known as a bird nerd. As a child growing up I remember riding the bus home from school, borrowing my Dad’s binoculars, and laying outside under the trees watching the birds fly by. As I grew older my time alone in nature birding was where I began to process and accept my sexuality. My love for birds and nature has followed me throughout my life leading me to my current research focused on the spatial ecology and conservation of Pueo (Hawaiian Short-eared Owl). I hope to promote conservation and love for nature as well as love and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community. Note: please do not handle wildlife unless permitted to do so 🙂
