He/Him

I am gay and I am an entomologist.//

Hi, I’m Cameron! I’m a Ph.D. student in entomology at Kansas State University, where I study RNA interference (RNAi) in a biting midge pest. I’ve previously worked on insect/tick/pathogen surveillance in California. Now, I’m working on techniques to combat these vectors with the hopes of developing new control strategies. I have a B.S. in Biological Sciences from UC Davis and an M.S. in Biology from Fresno State.

During undergrad, I was the president of a social fraternity for gay, bi, and progressive men. I thrived in a supportive environment of like-minded people. While I’ve been fortunate to have supportive peers throughout my research career, I now strive to live more out loud in my field. I want to lead by example for others who are looking for their own sense of belonging in academia and research.
