They/Them

I am bi and I am an immunologist.//

Perhaps the most surprising part of me (at least to myself) is how much I love immunology.

When I was in school, I thought that being a doctor was what I wanted to do, because that’s what “smart kids” did. Being classed as an international student despite living most of my life in the UK meant I could afford to study medicine…and also turned out to be a blessing in disguise. In the end, I did my undergraduate degree in biomedical science and discovered that my true calling was on the bench, not the bedside. Since graduating I’ve been working in a research laboratory focusing on respiratory immunology and am now preparing for my next big step: starting my PhD!

In my life outside the lab I like to explore creative hobbies, often tying into themes of cell biology, biomedicine and social justice.
