Anna McGeachy

She/Her

I am queer/pansexual and I am a bioinformatician.//

I received my bachelors in Genetics from University of Chicago in 2010 looking at the ecology and evolution of fruit flies. I received my doctoral degree in Biology from Johns Hopkins in 2016 focusing technique development for studying post-transcriptional regulation. I currently use computational biology and data science to develop custom genetic testing for everything from cell-free cancer assays to studying the microbial ecology of milk samples. I’ve been variably open to my labs or coworkers — I’m always a bit cautious and play my cards close to my chest. My hope is that as we raise awareness and normalize being queer in STEM, I can be less hidden about who and how I love.
