Alexi Nott

He/Him

I am gay and I am a group leader in neuroscience.//

I completed my PhD at the University College London in the UK, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT in Massachusetts and a Research Scientist position at UCSD in California. My research has focused on studying the role of gene regulatory mechanisms, termed epigenetics, in the developing and adult brain during health and disease. My lab at the UK Dementia Research Institute and the Department of Brain Sciences at Imperial College London is investigating the contribution of epigenetics in driving disease risk for aging-related brain disorders. My career has shown me the importance of creating a supportive environment for the LGBTQAI community and I will make it an integral part of my service to connect with LGBTQAI in STEM. I believe that visibility has a profound impact on the community, and I will continue as an openly gay scientist.
