Alexander Wood

He/Him

I am a gay man, of trans experience and I am a postdoctoral fellow in computational medicine and bioinformatics.//

I am a postdoctoral fellow in Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics at the University of Michigan. I received a PhD in Computer Science from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York and a MS in Pure Mathematics from DePaul University. I co-organized the first LGBTQ panel at an official Star Trek convention (that I am aware of) — “Queer Trekkers: Gene Roddenberry’s Galactic Utopias,” at Star Trek Mission: New York. I am an advocate for queer and trans folks within the STEM fields, and am interested in connecting with and supporting fellow transgender STEM professionals.
