He/Him

I’m gay and I’m a biology PhD student! //

I am currently working on my PhD at Georgetown University in Mark Rose’s lab studying the regulation of meiosis in yeast. Many meiotic processes are conserved across an array of organisms and so this work really aims to fill in some of those unknowns. I received my B.S. in biology and biochemistry in 2017 from Elmira College in Elmira, New York. At Elmira, I studied the competitive interactions between ant species with Dan Kjar (quite different, I know)! I wanted to contribute to 500 Queer Scientist because I have been so fortunate to have two mentors that have so openly accepted me as a gay scientist. Unfortunately, this is not the norm, but I think it is important to remember that amazing and accepting mentors are out there and their numbers are growing!
