I am trans and I am a chemical engineer.//

I am a 4th year Ph.D. candidate in chemical engineering at West Virginia University. I am an experimental catalysis and reaction engineer working on ammonia synthesis, catalytic materials, and microwave-plasma enhanced catalysis. I want to contribute fundamental and applied catalysis and energy conversion research for a more sustainable, equitable, and efficient world.

Growing up in northwestern Pennsylvania there were few, if any, queer or trans role models, and none working in science or engineering. I believe that being a visible, and active member of the LGTBQ community in science is an important step in building a better world. I want to help to establish conditions where historically marginalized people can find a home and a calling, especially in my field of catalysis and reaction engineering.

In the future I hope to pursue postdoctoral training to expand my research skills and to establish myself as a competent member of my field and to contribute to future technological developments.
