Scott Taylor

He/Him

I am gay and I am an Assistant Professor in an ecology and evolutionary biology department.//

I grew up in rural southern Ontario along the shoreline of Lake Huron. I’ve always been fascinated by the natural world. As a kid I was a competitive figure skater, which presented some challenges in a small hockey town. I didn’t come out until I started grad school at Queen’s University, after finishing my undergraduate degree in wildlife biology at the University of Guelph. Being a new grad student at the same time as coming out was challenging but fulfilling. I came out to friends and family well before coming out professionally and it was difficult to navigate, especially as a field biologist working in South America. Because of all of this, I am particularly interested in doing my part to ensure that members of our community feel supported and valued. Since joining the faculty at the University of Colorado Boulder I have helped advance our departments efforts to better support members of the queer community and look forward to continuing these efforts.
