He/Him

I am gay and I am a PhD candidate in chemical engineering.//

I am from Mumbai, India and currently doing my PhD in chemical engineering at UMass Amherst, USA. I work on fabricating zeolite membranes for carbon dioxide capture. I grew up in Mumbai without knowing any other queer people and without any queer representation in science/media, and so visibility of queer people, especially QTPOC, in STEM matters to me a lot! I am on the eboard of the oSTEM chapter at UMass and it has given me a loving community of other queer people in STEM. I recently presented a seminar in my department about LGBTQ issues in STEM to raise awareness amongst faculty and graduate students.
When I’m not in the lab, I love to sketch and paint.
