Raphael Ocelli Pinheiro
He/Him
I am gay and I am an environmental scientist.//
I’m Brazilian, currently based at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) as a Collaborating Professor and Principal Investigator. My research maps food-sharing initiatives and communities across the Amazon, focusing on food security, biocultural diversity, and climate resilience.
My path has taken me across Brazil, Belgium, Italy, the United States, working on different intersections of geoconservation, agricultural heritage, and cultural eco/geosystem services. I hold a PhD from the University of Turin and an MSc in Human Ecology from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Beyond research, I have a strong belief that science, art, and community are not separate things.
Don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m always open to new collaborations and partnerships across research, conservation, and creative projects.
