I am gay and I am an ecologist.//
I’m an ecologist with a particular love for all things feathered and chitinous. I’ve been fascinated by the natural work since before I can remember, but had a varied career outside of STEM (including time spent working in theatre) prior to completing my MSc and PhD in my 30’s. I’ve worked on various (mainly bird) conservation projects around the world, in addition to lecturing for a while, and I’ve spent the last couple of years working for a small, ethical, consultancy (working solely with local authorities and conservation NGOs) which specialises in mitigating the effects of human recreation upon the natural world. I’m a field biologist at heart, who loves being able to apply practical solutions to conservation problems on the ground that (hopefully!) benefit both people and wildlife.
