I am pansexual, genderfluid and I am an ocean biogeochemist.//
I grew up on Long Island Sound and had the wonderful opportunity to do summer camps every year at Project Oceanology, a local non-profit that specializes in marine science outreach and education. Although I started college in engineering, I found my way back to oceanography thanks to some wonderful professors, who took me on as research assistants. I’m now a PhD student studying Earth System Science at UC Irvine where I work on improving biological realism in Earth system models and investigate how phytoplankton help mediate the carbon-climate system.
I came out in early college as pansexual and later on as genderfluid and have found such a wonderful support group in the queer STEM community!
