I am gay and I am a science outreach and education coordinator. //

My PhD focused on characterizing evolutionary responses of plants to urban environments, and I got to setup my field sites at high schools engaging students in ongoing research. This experience further got me excited about science outreach and communication! While in grad school I founded Market Science (, which is a fun way to hang out with friends at the farmers market while sharing science on the weekends. In partnership with the World Food Prize Foundation, I now oversee a youth program challenging high school students to research issues on local and global hunger issues, and support plant science research at the University of Minnesota (come visit in the summer!).
