I am gay and I am a maritime structure engineer.//

As a gay engineer, I have had a number of challenges to overcome. These have included judgement about what it means to be gay, or jokes about gay people. However, I have learned that my sexuality has nothing to do with my ability to be an engineer. I have become a Associate Director in a field of heavy engineering, where being a female is difficult, let alone be gay. However, I am passionate about what I do, and as an engineer I have the opportunity to directly influence the world, to make the place that we live better.
