Maryann Dugan

She/Her

I am queer and I am an environmental scientist.//

Hi y’all – I’m Maryann, and my career passions are freshwater ecology and water quality monitoring.

I grew up in Northwest Indiana and earned my B.S. in Public Affairs, majoring in Environmental Management, from Indiana University–Bloomington. Upon graduation, I moved to Florida, came out fully and unapologetically, and worked in coastal dune restoration and native plant horticulture, as well as water quality monitoring and stream, lake, and seagrass field surveys. I found a loving and vibrant LGBTQ+ community as diverse and dynamic as the flora and fauna that surrounded me in my new habitat.

I currently work as a Program Manager in the Water Quality Division at NEIWPCC, an interstate commission serving the northeastern United States in All Things Water. In this role, I facilitate interstate collaboration and manage projects related to aquatic biology, community science, and water quality monitoring.

I reside happily in New Hampshire with my partner, our son, and our cats – building a life rooted in science, service, and love.
