Maryann Dugan

She/Her

I am a lesbian and I am an environmental analyst.//

Hi y’all – I’m Maryann, and my career passions are freshwater ecology and water quality monitoring.

I grew up in Northwest Indiana and earned my B.S. in Public Affairs, majoring in Environmental Management, from Indiana University – Bloomington. While the Bloomington area of Indiana is a “liberal” hub of sorts, I never felt quite comfortable celebrating myself or who I am, always feeling pressure to maintain a facade of heteronormativity.
Upon graduation, I moved to Florida, came out fully and unapologetically, and worked in both coastal dune restoration/native plant horticulture as well as water quality monitoring/stream, lake, and seagrass surveying fieldwork. I found a loving and amazing LGBTQ+ community as diverse and unprecedented as the flora and fauna that surrounded me in my new habitat.

I currently work as an environmental analyst in the water quality division of an interstate commission based in the northeastern United States. I have the opportunity to manage exciting projects and facilitate interstate collaboration. I reside happily in New Hampshire with my wife (whom I met at a Pride in Florida!) and our two cats.
