Manos Mavrakis

He/Him

I am gay and I am a cell biologist.//

I grew up in Athens, Greece. After obtaining my BSc in Chemistry in 1999, I moved to France for my PhD in the structural biology of viruses and then to the National Institutes of Health in the United States for my postdoctoral work on the cell biology of the Drosophila embryo. I moved back to France in 2008 and am based in Marseille. My current research focuses on the structure and function of cytoskeletal proteins in the context of cell and tissue morphogenesis. Cooking for friends and beloved ones and queer tango dancing keep me busy outside the lab.
