I am gay and I am a plant molecular biologist. //
I am an Assistant Professor of Plant Biology at Augsburg University. I teach botany and genetics, and aim to make my lab and classroom welcoming to LGBTQ+ students. My research focuses on the molecular interactions between plants and other organisms like aphids and bacteria. I’m on a mission to cure plant blindness: Being South African, I love to share the wonders of the Cape Floristic Region. I also love my husband, Depeche Mode, and croissants.
