I am gay and I am a developmental biologist/biochemist. //
In addition to being the first gay chair of Biology at San Francisco State University, I am also the first female chair. My research focuses on defining the biochemical and cellular mechanisms underlying Wnt gradient formation in chick embryos. In the classroom, I am also active in pedagogical innovation and am pioneering new approaches to promote inclusive classrooms. I am fortunate to work alongside amazing students and faculty, who come from diverse backgrounds.. I live with my wife (also a biologist) and son in the Sunset District. In my free time, I love to hike, bike, swim, and take photographs.
