She/Her

I am a lesbian and I am a chemist. //

I have always felt that my identity was as a chemist first, and a lesbian second. So primarily, I am currently a PhD candidate in analytical chemistry finishing my degree this year. My research and interests are in environmental chemistry, and the enjoyment I feel working with the instrumentation angles me toward analytical chemistry. But in the background, I have always also felt the need to ignore, minimize, or even hide my sexuality in the lab. This has never thankfully been overtly said to me, but rather understood through an atmosphere I have encountered at all workplaces. That all changes now, here, with #500QueerScientists
