I am transgender and lesbian and I am an applied mathematician.//
I’m an applied mathematician specializing in numerical analysis and in modeling and simulation of problems from physics, biology, and engineering. My professional training was in astrophysics, but somewhere along the way I became more interested in algorithms for numerical simulation. I’ve worked in the private sector, at a national laboratory, and at several universities in physics and math departments. I’m currently on the math faculty at Texas Tech.
I transitioned in 2017, and live with my wife (who’s also a mathematician) and two children.
