I am gay I am a PhD Student.//
I am a PhD student at the Richard Gilder Graduate School (AMNH) studying nature’s best biochemists: spiders! I’m interested in the evolution of spider venom and silk, both their origins and the ways in which one system has exerted evolutionary pressures on the other. Previously, I’ve worked on the analysis of parasitoid wasp venom.
Before returning to school (at 25!) to pursue a BS in Biology, I studied art and spent time working in the interior design field. A deep love of the natural world (the product of growing up in the forest with a hippie mother) eventually led me back to STEM. (Shout out to fellow low-income/first-gen students!)
