He/Him

I’m gay and I’m a Latinx chemical biologist. //

Originally from Dallas, Texas, I fell in love with chemistry because of the infectious passion of my high-school teacher, Mrs. Maner. In undergrad, I spent my free time doing research in the synthesis of organic photovoltaics and now, as a PhD student at USC, I focus on the synthesis and bio characterization of non-natural carbohydrates in metabolic pathways. My research allows me to work at the intersection of biology and chemistry, which has been an exciting experience. Outside of the lab, I lead the Queer Graduate Alliance at USC and help organize NYC Pride every year. I’m grateful to the many teachers, mentors, and friends who have helped me along this journey to be a good scientist and a better human being.
