I am gay and I am a pediatrician and adolescent health specialist.//
I am an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco. Clinically, I am an adolescent medicine specialist who cares for hospitalized adolescents and young adults with eating disorders.
My research uses epidemiology and data science methods to inform adolescent and young adult health guidelines. I study health consequences of adolescent and young adult behaviors (nutrition, physical activity, screen time), with the goal of preventing diseases (cardiovascular disease, mental illness) later in adulthood. One specific area of research focuses on eating disorders, particularly among boys, men and the LGBTQ+ community.
