I am gay and I am a marine virologist.//
I study the role of viruses in aquatic habitats, especially those associated with sea stars, urchins, and cucumbers, and how environmental variables and free-living microorganisms influence their diversity and replication. I grew up in Australia and moved to the US to do a PhD in Southern California in marine science, and am now a professor at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. I strive to create inclusive spaces for everyone: in my lab, department, institution, and outside of academia!
