I am gay and I am a research scientist. //
I am an evolutionary biologist and systematic botanist working on flowers in angiosperms, which I recently showed were ancestrally bisexual 😉 I have been openly gay since 1997 and always felt comfortable as student, postdoc, and faculty. I have been lucky to grow up scientifically in a discipline (botany) that is full of famous, openly gay personalities, but it is the support and acceptance from my straight supervisors, colleagues, and students that has helped me most to be myself at work.
