I am gay and I am a wetland geographer.//
I am currently a graduate student in UCSB’s Geography Department. My research relates to how we can use satellite and biogeochemical data to monitor health and progress of restoration/recovery in restored and disturbed wetlands. Prior to starting my graduate education, I attended Cal State Stanislaus where I got a BA in Geography and was a McNair scholar researching drought impacts on wetland plants.
I like to think of outreach as just being another part of my job and that telling my story will encourage and promote others to become scientists and follow in the footsteps of me and many others in diversifying and contributing to the STEM community.
