They/Them
I am non-binary and I am an assistant professor.//
I’m a Brown nonbinary flamboyant Mexican immigrant that works for the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University, and I’m the head of the ‘Abby and Anna’ SOGIE Lab. Our lab focuses on the role of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression in human development, health, and rights to enhance the lives of children, youth, and families. I have been awarded as a National Researcher, Mexico’s National System of Researchers (CONACYT). From 2013-2021 I was on faculty at the National Pedagogic University (Mexico) as a Full Professor.
I have been a guest speaker at national and international events, and a lecturer and thesis director in different undergraduate and graduate programs in Chile, Colombia, Greece, Mexico, Portugal, The Netherlands, USA, and Uruguay. My research has been published in top journals in English, Spanish and Portuguese (more than 45 peer reviewed articles, h-index 15), as well as in four books and various book chapters. My aim is to interrogate dominant theories about Human Development as well as to trans Child Studies! Outside of academia, I’m passionate about teaching and practicing Ashtanga yoga, dancing, laughing, and trying to spread kindness and compassion.
