I’m gay and I’m a postdoctoral researcher at Duke studying cell migration in the model system C. elegans. //
After years in magazine publishing, I returned to school to pursue my love of science. I studied viruses as a pancreatic cancer therapeutic in graduate school. Afterward I did a short postdoc in a gene therapy lab, but decided to focus on education and moved to a lab with the model system, C. elegans. This amazing animal allows for in-depth genetic analysis that is accessible to all student levels and makes learning fun and teaching a blast!
