She/Her

I am queer and I am an oceanographer turned evolutionary biologist (among other things). //

I love people; what kind of body they’re in or where they fall on the gender spectrum is not so important to me. I used think for a little while that everybody felt like that, and then for a much longer while, that nobody else feels like that. I know better now and am glad to see that science—which should be of no gender, no orientation, and no colour skin—is becoming more diverse, even if very slowly. I hope to contribute to finding out why this process is so slow, and how we can speed it up, so that everybody’s voices and perspectives can be heard. At university, I evolve things in environmental change settings. Usually, these things are small, green, and slimy (but mighty!).
