I am bi and I am a metallurgist.//

 

I am a metallurgist with a B.S. in metallurgical engineering from Missouri University of Science and Tech. and an M.S. in Analytics and Modeling from Valparaiso University. My work is focused on applications of data science and analytics in materials manufacturing and material science. I am currently working at an integrated steel mill where my projects included automated surface inspection systems, computer vision to assess material quality and ID tracking, and modeling material deformation phenomenon. I find stress relief and artistic expression through blacksmithing.

The steel mill environment is not the most queer friendly, but times are changing and I have found friends and allies all throughout my tenure. Sometimes it can be hard to see, but there are compassionate people are everywhere!
