I am gay and I am a biology laboratory coordinator. //

I am currently the Biology Laboratory Coordinator for Birmingham-Southern College, a small liberal arts college in Birmingham, AL. I was raised in a small conservative town in Texas and came out just a few years ago. I did my graduate work at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and Auburn University studying the evolutionary ecology of an invasive lizard. Although I was forced to resign from my last position due to an unsupportive advisor shortly after coming out, I am now happily out and helping to make sure what happened to me happens to no other LGBTQ+ persons in science!
