queer and I am a researcher-nurse clinician.//
I grew up in 8 countries and the island Guam before finally settling down here in the US. Seeing the same health disparities emerge over and over again in all of these countries made me realize just how important structures are. I went on to work for the CDC and a community-based organization, and then became a doctorally-trained public health scientist and nurse (RN). My research lies in the intersection of social networks and LGBTQIA+ health (focusing on HIV, substance use, and mental health). I also have a growing interest in digital networks. The reason why I landed in the network space is that networks have the potential to surmount structures, like structural oppression. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk more about networks, racial/ethnic minoritized and LGBTQIA+ health, and health equity!
