I am queer and I am an evolutionary reproductive biologist. //
I love studying how reproductive systems function and evolve but have often felt that the dominant scientific (and cultural) paradigms were in conflict with the fluid, non-binary ways I understand gender, sex, and sexuality. Instead of keeping these two parts of my life separate I have found communities that support me in finding ways to integrate them. Being open about my sexuality in academia has not always felt comfortable, but it has allowed me to form new connections and find/carve out a space for myself that is accepting and supportive.
