Bryan M. Williams

He/Him

I am gay and I am a lecturer (assistant professor) in biometrics and medical imaging.//

I am a mathematician who studies variational modelling, partial differential equations and machine learning to automatically interpret images and video.

I completed a PhD in mathematics at the University of Liverpool (2010-2014), studying the deconvolution of medical retina photographs by way of solving large nonlinear systems of equations. I did postdocs at Universitat des Saarlandes in efficient solutions to PDEs and at University of Liverpool in many medical imaging projects. I moved to Lancaster University in 2019 as an assistant professor to set up my own imaging group in the School of Computing and Communications. I’m currently leading a multi-million pound multidisciplinary project in biometrics and developing several projects in medical imaging.
