I am non-binary gay and I am a planetary science and astrophysics student.//
I am Brian Murphy, an undergraduate student attending the Florida Institute of Technology pursuing majors in Astrophysics and Planetary Sciences. Coming from a rural family with a business and arts background, I am the first person in my family and friends to study sciences. When I came out, it was scary, but I was lucky enough to be surrounded by a support system that encouraged me to be who I truly am. I am dedicated to space sciences, from a young age, and I am actively working towards a visible and proud career in this field so that kids that are in the shoes I was once in can have someone to look up to. My dream is to become the first out astronaut and represent the LGTBQ+ community, and other minority groups, in space. I won’t stop until this mission is accomplished, and I’m proud to be a part of 500 Queer Scientists.
